In branch

Appointments

If you want to open a new account in branch we recommend that you book an appointment in advance by calling 0345 608 0783. You can also request a longer appointment if that would make things easier for you.

Step-free access

Almost all branches have step-free access, making them easy to visit. There are also large buttons to automatically open branch doors.

We provide portable ramps at Clitheroe and St Albans to help customers enter and exit the branch. Press the doorbell outside and wait for assistance.

Unfortunately, we cannot provide step-free access at our branches in Guiseley or Settle due to the pavement layout.

We have partnered with AccessAble to create detailed guides of just how accessible each branch is. We're proud to be the first building society to offer this service.

Accessibility aids

  • Induction hearing loops

All branches have portable induction loops for hearing aid users, available at the counter or in branch offices.

  • Accessible videos

All videos shown to customers in branch include subtitles and British Sign Language interpretation.

  • Easy grip pens

All branches have easy grip pens available, which may be useful for customers who struggle with grip or dexterity.

  • Signature guide

This is a firm piece of plastic with a gap in it, that can be placed over a document to highlight where a signature is needed, to make it easier for customers to sign letters, cheques, and forms.

  • Coloured transparencies

Coloured films are available to place over paperwork, which can help some customers when reading documents.

  • SignVideo

SignVideo is a safe and secure online video service, that allows us to communicate in branch using British Sign language, by inviting an interpreter to virtually join the conversation. Let one of our colleagues know you’d like to use this service when in branch.

Other ways we can help

  • Signature stamps

Customers can use a signature stamp to sign documents in branch. Photo ID should be shown each time.

  • Assistance dogs

We welcome all assistance dogs in branch, and won’t distract them while they are working.

  • Hidden Disabilities Sunflower

As a member of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower initiative, we look out for customers who are wearing a sunflower lanyard and offer support.

We're trained to support you

We were an early adopter of Communication Access UK training for our colleagues, which aims to make things easier for people with communication disabilities. Over 1,500 Skipton colleagues have now completed this training.
